Fiorgelato Cafe

While waiting for hubby to finish some bank duties today, the ice cream fanatic little girl asked for some cold treat. We usually opt for BTIC or Gelatissimo but none of which can be found in the nearest mall from home - SM Bicutan. We spotted Fiorgelato and settled in.

Even before all the gelato stores came about, Fiorgelato has been serving Italian ice cream at it's best back in the early days of 2000. They kinda got lost in the scene and came back with new products and concept. From being the plain gelato shop, they morphed into a cafe - adding pizza & pasta, cakes & pastries, coffee, frappes and some smoothies into their menu.

I ordered for a cup of ice cream and was offered the one which will entitle me to two scoops of different flavors to which I added some candy sprinkles. I was surprised to learn that the total damage was just 45Php! Anyway, to be honest, I no longer remember how much their ice cream costs since the last time I had a scoop was way back in college. Since I wasn't really sure of what we were getting into, I dug into the cup right away and.... Taaaadaaaahhhh!!! It seemed like a spoonful of sugar :( I should have tried their food offerings but I also thought that it would be pointless to do so because their gelato should be the main game.

I remember that I used to fancy their pistachio flavor but I guess the quality of their gelato has changed. Hubby said that the original owners sold the business already, answering the change in menu and marketing strategy. It could be that the original ice cream recipes have been replaced too..

Anyway, I still gave the visit a rating of 3Stars in Looloo which means that it 'was just okay' because of the following reasons :

1st star - their space was cozy and the staff did not mind us staying there for a long period of time
2nd star - there was a sofa and some other comfortable seating
3rd star - for old time sake
