Bamba Bistro - A Must Try When in BF

Written By clapalisoc on Wednesday, 17 June 2015 | 13:31

BF Homes has turned into a foodie heaven for the South people. From a quiet residential area to a busy street, the stretch of Aguirre Ave. has a lot to offer. One of which is Bamba Bistro. I have been seeing the happy signage of this restaurant whenever we are in the area but I have been reserving our visit for a special occasion. Then came my birthday. It was the perfect time!

We got there around 8PM and the place was packed. It had an enclosed area and an open area which made the space look cramped. We were seated outside at first but since we were with 2 toddlers and an infant, the staff immediately transferred us to the air conditioned area as soon as seats became available.

Inside Bamba Bistro

There were a lot of interesting dishes in their menu and they even had daily specials. After carefully deciding on what we wanted, we got the following ---

Spaghetti Pomodoro Cream for 360Php

Spaghetti for the toddlers! We opted for the Spaghetti Pomodoro Cream. Big serving I must say and it's good for sharing. Loved that the flavor of fresh tomatoes stood out but it did not render the sauce too sour. The cream helped out in making the sauce rich and thick. It was simple - stewed tomatoes, mushrooms, ricotta and al dente pasta. The kids loved it!

Foie Gras Salad for 620Php

Hubby and I decided to order meals for sharing. I wanted to sample as much and the husband didn't have a problem with that. I took charge and got their Foie Gras Salad to start the night. I haven't really tried Foie Gras in my life so I was so excited with this order. It came and I was a little disappointed with the small serving of greens since I like my salad really leafy. Not a big deal though since I know that I was paying for the Foie Gras, more than anything else, in that salad. The combination of vinaigrette cream, raspberry demiglace and ricotta was divine. You'll get an assortment of flavors - sourness, sweetness and that fruity burst - that went well with the fresh greens and onion rings. The peaches rendered more fruity sweetness into the salad and worked to lessen the strong characteristic taste of the Foie Gras. The Foie Gras was pan-fried. It had this melt in your mouth texture, creamy, livery but buttery at the same time. It had a very rich flavor and the fruity sweetness of the salad complemented it well. It was a good first time Foie Gras experience for me.

Duck Ravioli for 495Php

Duck Ravioli. Boy this was filling! There were about 6 pieces of big ravioli smothered with a thick porcini mushroom sauce that has truffle! Each bite was heaven. Imagine this - generous heaping of duck meat with ricotta  enclosed in al dente pasta, bathed with thick and creamy sauce and then truffle oil. It was so good though for someone who fancy truffle oil, like me, I would want it to have more.

Goat Cheese Raviolo for 220Php

We also sampled a dish from their Bamba Specials which were off the menu. Another interesting find - Goat Cheese Raviolo with Rabbit Ragu Sauce. Rabbit? Yes, rabbit! This was another first for me - first to try Goat Cheese and of course, rabbit meat. There were about 6 pieces of small ravioli filled with goat cheese, covered with a tomato based sauce with shredded rabbit meat and topped with more cheese. Oh this was heavenly. Goat Cheese had a resemblance in taste to Blue Cheese, which is a favorite of mine. Each bite was a delight for my taste buds. Then the ragu. There was really nothing exotic about it. It was like eating shredded chicken. I tried hard to check if it was meaty like pork but in my opinion, it leaned more towards the meat of chicken. I would order this again anytime.

Roasted Tomato Soup witj Gouda-Wiches for 180Php

I also ordered for a bowl of tomato soup for my baby girl. It's one of the best tomato soups we've tried so far! It's thick and rich and was not watered down. There was a smokey taste coming from the roasting of the tomatoes. It was also served with these yummy squares of grilled cheese sandwich - filled with Gouda cheese. How I wish they added more of the small sandwiches!

That's me and Cherienne with my Queen Elizabeth :)

We had a great time that night. What made it even better was the customer service. You see, hubby brought a box of Strawberry Shortcake for my birthday to the restaurant that night and they willingly stored it in their refrigerator so that it wouldn't melt. Then, when we asked for the cake, they cleared our table and served the whole cake in a cake plate! Whoa! They even gave us a knife to slice, plates and utensils to use. I was blown away by the customer service. They even provided us with candles and a lighter! I was so delighted with the staff of Bamba Bistro that I gave them a huge slice of cake! Minutes later, they came to our table, sang happy birthday and gave me a cake (Queen Elizabeth - a mouth watering chocolate cake that's moist and fudge-y. To make it more decadent, it was smothered with butterscotch sauce.)with a candle! Isn't that so sweet?

5 out of 5 Stars for Bamba Bistro!
