looloo Food Tour : TGI Friday's - 2nd Stop

Written By clapalisoc on Thursday, 16 July 2015 | 15:14

After visiting Village Tavern, we went to our second stop - TGI Friday's. I've been to Friday's countless times and their Jack Daniel Ribs, Tortilla Crusted Fish Tacos and Pork Adobo are my favorites. Their unli Mojito is also a hit during laid back, chill Saturday nights.

During our looloo Food Tour, they had us try their new offerings - BBQ Burger, Memphis Style Pork Belly, Spice Rub Roasted Chicken and Cilantro and Lime Grilled Prawns.

American BBQ Burger for 550Php

The American BBQ Burger looked so glorious. I can't even imagine how I'll take a bite! Thick all beef burger patty, perfectly grilled, on a bed of lettuce, tomatoes and onions, covered with Colby Cheese, finished off with Cajun-battered onion rings and drizzled with Friday's barbecue sauce. The bun was soft and the burger patty was juicy and tasty. No signs of extenders. Went really well with the melted cheese but I had to take out the onion rings coz there was too much happening in that burger already! This deal came in with fries.

Memphis Style Pork Belly for 595Php

I also took a portion of the Memphis Style Pork Belly. Just like their Pork Adobo, the belly was so soft and tender! Loved the barbecue sauce that it was smothered with which also sipped through the meat and the fat! Oh so good! This deal was served with corn on the cob and some Cheddar Cheese Mashed Potatoes. Can I just say that you can never go wrong with the ribs and pork belly dishes of Friday's? Always perfect!

Cilantro and Lime Grilled Prawns for 495Php

If you would like to get something other than ribs and burgers, go for the Cilanto and Lime Grilled Prawns. These fire grilled prawns were well marinated giving each bite a citrusy kick. Topped with Pico de Gallo (tomatoes, onions and jalapenos) and fresh ripe mangoes, this dish was the lightest and most refreshing among those that we've had that night. It was also served with rice pilaf.

Spice Rub Roasted Chicken for 450Php

Least favorite in the spread was the Spice Rub Chicken. Honestly, there was too much spices in it and ironically, the spices didn't make it into the meat of the chicken. Totally okay to skip.

99 Cocktails for 99Php each

Aside form these dishes, we also got to try some of their cocktails from the 99 Cocktails Promo. 99php per glass from 6PM everyday until the end of August. Great deal! We tried the following --

> Electric Lemonade (blue) - has vodka in it
> Amaretto Sour (very light green) - loved this! It has Amaretto liqueur which gave it a smooth almond flavor and a kick of lemon.
> Tequila Sunrise (orange with reddish bottom) - tequila + orange juice, least favorite

We also tried Melon Ball which had vodka, Midori and orange juice and Madras which was made of vodka, cranberry juice and some hint of orange I think. Loved the Melon Ball! It was the first time that I tried a cocktail with melon as it's fruit flavor. Madras, on the other hand, reminded me of Cosmopolitan minus the lemon.

June Bug for 235Php

As if the 99 Cocktails were not enough, we got another one with pineapple and I think it had some coconut rum in it - June Bug. I surprisingly liked it!

Strawberry Daiquiri for 175Php

To veer away from alcohol, we also got their Strawberry Daiquiri. This could have been good if only they didn't use frozen strawberries. It was so evident with just one sip.

Oreo Madness for 345Php

Last order of business during this stop was dessert! Hooray! We had their best seller Oreo Madness, which is also my favorite. It's more of an ice cream sandwich - vanilla ice cream in between giant Oreo cookies, topped with chocolate and caramel sauces. So good you won't be able to stop once you started.

Mocha Mud Pie for 325Php

Then came in the Mocha Mud Pie. A big block of mocha ice cream with a glorious topping of thick chocolate fudge and generous heaping of almond slivers! It was rich and creamy with a chocolate crumb crust. That was the first time for me to try it and it was an instant hit! I fell in love with this and would order this again next time.

TGI Friday's servers were as always helpful with the menu details and always ready to give suggestions. Service was great! They attend to your requests right away and makes sure to serve with a smile. Don't you just love Friday's?
