Bunny Baker: To Die for Dessert Skillets and More!

Written By clapalisoc on Monday, 2 May 2016 | 12:15

Our Epic #TomasMoratoFoodCrawl started around 830AM on a Saturday and we decided to drop by The Bunny Baker before actually going to Tomas Morato for breakfast. We have been reading and hearing about the Bunny Baker buzz so this was the perfect time for us, from the South, to visit. Also, I have been following the FB page of The Bunny Baker even before they started their cafe coz their cake and cupcake creations were simply amazing!

The Cafe was too cute. It's like a big bedroom of a little girl with soft pastel hues of purple, pink, green and blue. It also has splashes of white to keep all the colors together.

The ceiling even has stars which reminded me so much of my bedroom when I was a child - glow in the dark stars! There's also a wall chair that's cushioned if you want a more relaxed space. As if that's not enough, they added more Martha Stewart-ish pom-poms and drop lamps. I'm sure little girls will like it here!

Some of the chairs had bunny ears with cushioned seats.

And look at those high chairs! They have bunny ears too!

The Bunny Baker offers more than just desserts. They have savory treats too. They actually have a lot in their menu to give you a complete meal - starters, soup, salad, all day breakfast meals, omelettes, an assortment of meat, poultry and seafood dishes, pasta, quesadilla, a menu for kids, burgers, sandwiches and of course, a whole lot of sweets to satisfy the giddy sweet tooth bunny in you.

Bunny Baker Cupcakes

Cupcakes, skillet cookies, panna cotta and frozen treats - they have it all! They also have an assortment of hot and cold drinks. Pretty overwhelming menu for a cute cafe, if you ask me.

They also have quite a selection of gelato flavors. There's Sriracha Choco, Bubble Gum, Maltesers, Milo, Oreo, Serenitea's Okinawa, Kahlua, Mint Choco, Nutella, Salted Caramel, Speculoos, Bubble Gum, Red Velvet, Vanilla and Irish Creme among others.

We checked their menu and scanned the pages until we reached the part for desserts! Dessert for breakfast? WHY NOT! We were on a mission and we didn't waste our time. We got two skillet desserts - The Skilletor and The Ooey Gooey. I was tempted to get Matcha Skillet but decided against it because I read reviews that it wasn't good - weird after taste etc. I didn't want to waste any tummy space and calories, of course. Since it'll take them about 15-20mins to get our first order done, we decided to get some latte.

But of course, Matcha Latte for me to start my Saturday #matchadreams. It was served with a cutie bunny latte art. Their Matcha Latte was good. It had a good kick of Matcha, velvety milk and it had the right sweetness.

My friend, Jai, got their Speculoos Latte and it was good too. The coffee was strong, but not too bitter, and the Speculoos mixed well with the milky coffee. They added the real Biscoff Speculoos spread coz there were specs of it at the bottom of the cup.

Then the skillets. We started off with The Skilletor. It's a half-baked chocolate chip cookie in a skillet. It was warm and had lots of chocolate pieces in it! Loved the gooey chocolate pieces, the soft center and the somehow crisp sides. The only let down was the vanilla gelato.

We had two scoops and it was icy, very icy. I was expecting the usual gelato texture that's smooth but it wasn't. There wasn't a strong vanilla flavor in it as well. I hope they can work on this though. Anyhow, we finished this skillet in no time! Seriously, I wished we ordered the Ooey Gooey at the same time coz we needed to wait again for minutes.

Next up - The Ooey Gooey. OMG! If you love sweets and chocolate, you must try this! I'm serious when I say that it's so good and so sinful. I can have this for breakfast everyday (okay diabetes alert, that's a little bit too much lol). It's a brownie in a skillet with a molten center and it's overflowing with some ooey gooey chocolate lava! As if that's not enough, they even topped it with salted caramel gelato! Since we were sucker for sweets, we opted to have 2 scoops of the gelato. The chocolate was decadent, sweet and delicious! Try to dig a little deeper into the skillet and you'll discover the brownie waiting for you. The sides of the skillet has the best brownie IMO. It was a little firmer and chewy.

The Salted Caramel gelato was really good too. It was smooth and sweet and had a subtle burnt sugar taste in it. Perfect ratio of salt was added. IMO, they could have topped this with just plain Vanilla Gelato (something better than what they topped the Skilletor with) coz this dessert can get too cloying. The chocolate had a strong flavor so does the salted caramel gelato. They were like fighting for the center stage. Next time, I'll try a more subtle flavor to go with this skillet.

Overall, it was a pleasant experience. This cafe is a good hangout option. The lighting is warm and they have glass walls so there is also a good amount of natural light coming in during the day. It's equipped with lots of charging ports and wifi too. It's also a good venue for parties and baby showers. They also have displays of customized cakes which you can avail for a special occasion. Will definitely go back to this place and will bring my kids next time!

4 out of 5 Stars for The Bunny Baker!
