Wildflour Café + Bakery - From Steak to Pastries!

Wildflour is always a good idea. No matter what time of the day, their menu always has something that will impress. Now, if you've been to any Wildflour restaurant, you'll know that they have this bread section that any bread lover will go crazy about. Their croissants are one of those that we always get for take out coz my daughter loves them and I have to agree. Since we're always in BGC and Net Lima is a building that we frequent, a trip to Wildflour is quite inevitable.

Here are what we've tried so far ---

Grilled Octopus Salad from Wildflour
Grilled Octopus Salad for 390Php

This Grilled Octopus Salad was so good! It had generous heaping of grilled octopus chunks that were so tender and flavorful. The octopus meat wasn't as chewy and rubbery as those that I've tried  elsewhere and had the right saltiness.

The salad also has shaved cabbage, fresh basil leaves and some other herbs, fresh cubes of ripe mango, onions and nuts in a light mango vinaigrette dressing. The tropical freshness of ripe mango gave just the right sweetness to the salad which balanced the overall flavor. Refreshing and filling - it served as my dinner for that day!

Eggs on Toast, Bordelaise Sauce
Eggs on Toast (Ham, Mushrooms, Poached Eggs, Bordelaise Sauce) for 395Php

Eggs on Toast - this variant has ham, mushrooms, poached egg and Bordelaise sauce. I loved this one too! The toast was crunchy on the sides but soft towards the middle, eggs were perfectly poached and runny and the ham was savory. The sauce tied everything together - buttery and had the right saltiness and was definitely tasty!

Tarte Flambe
Tarte Flambe (Wild Mushrooms, Caramelized Onions & Gruyere)

Tarte Flambé - It's basically a pizza on flat bread. We tried the one with Wild Mushroom, Caramelized Onion and Gruyere. The bread was thin and a little crunchy. The caramelized onions gave this dish an interesting sweetness and the cheese gave an interesting salty contrast.

Crispy Parmesan Churros
Crispy Parmesan Churros for 240Php

A different take on Churros, these fried sticks didn't come with a chocolate dip but were generously sprinkled with freshly grated Parmesan Cheese. Crunchy outside but soft and warm inside - I would say that they were good but I still prefer my Churros with chocolate.

Plain Croissant from Wildflour Café + Bakery
A basket full of Croissant!

Plain Croissant - Cherienne's favorite!  This one's very flaky and when you cut into it, it gets really messy but you'll see beautiful layers of puff pastry. It was crisp but soft and had a good buttery flavor. Best eaten while warm, daub in some butter and top with strawberry jam.

Salted Chocolate Cake
Salted Chocolate Cake for 270Php per slice

The Salted Chocolate Cake was knock-out good! It was a huge slice and we weren't able to finish it. Three thick layers of moist and chocolaty cake with alternating layers of decadent chocolate with salted caramel - one of the best in town!

A look at the decadent chocolate frosting of this glorious cake!

The chocolate frosting was thick and really good plus it wasn't too sweet. It's also topped with some salt creating this interesting contrast between sweet and salty. Must try for chocolate and dessert lovers!

Almond and Matcha Twist from Wildflour Café + Bakery
Almond and Matcha Twist for 120Php

Almond and Matcha Twist - Matcha anything is a must so I was really excited about this. It was a pretty long log of twisted puff pastry topped with what seemed like a mash of sort that's colored green and then topped with lots of almond slivers.

Closer look at the layers, the Matcha topping and the almond slivers!

The puff pastry was so good - crisp layers, flaky, buttery and a tad sweet! The Matcha mash on top didn't quite taste like Matcha. The buttery pastry was more evident in terms of flavor. It was more milky with just a tiny hint of Matcha which you will not get if you're chewing up the topping with the pastry.

Steak and Egg from Wildflour Café + Bakery
Steak and Egg for 495Php

Another favorite of mine in Wildflour is this Steak and Egg dish. Steak is always a good idea. Beautifully served in a bed of Kimchi Rice were 5 pieces of Kitayama Flat Iron Steak topped with poached egg. The Kimchi rice was really good with just the right kick of Kimchi madness. The steak was well seasoned, medium rare, great form but was somewhat tough. Could have been knock out if it was tender. Serving was just okay. If you are really hungry then this will not satisfy. However, this dish has been taken out of their menu and has been replaced with Kimchi Fried Rice - braised beef brisket and fried egg.

People in Wildflour are always warm and friendly. Their customer service is consistent. As soon as you get in, they'll lead you to your table and wait patiently until you've decided on what to order. They're also very accommodating when you have questions about their menu or if you need some dish customization. They're also quick to refill glasses with water.

Tables get easily filled during lunch and dinner so it's better to call for reservation. I love the warm lighting inside the restaurant and the sophisticated ambiance. It's a great date place or even a place to relax, eat and chill with friends.

UPDATE (07072016):

All Wildflour restaurants put their bread, pastries and cakes on sale Mon-Fri staring 7PM and Sunday starting 2PM. You can get everything, for takeout ONLY, at 50% discount!

Husband tried taking advantage of this promo and he was blown away! The line was so long! If you plan to go, better make sure that you'll be there early so that you'll be first in line.

Croissants from Wildflour
Six pieces of croissants for about 300Php!

He brought home some Plain Croissants, Pain Au Chocolat and Almond Croissants. All were good! Loved the flaky buttery puff pastry and the generous filling of chocolate. The Almond Croissants had this custard like filling inside and was topped with more custard and lots of almond slivers!
