Uncle Cheffy!

Written By clapalisoc on Tuesday, 26 March 2013 | 23:11

While waiting for mom the other day to finish up with some BIR duties in BGC yellow building, hubby decided to drop by Burgos Circle to grab some refreshments. As we make our way to Serenitea, the little girl saw this metal tree which serves as the main attraction in the area. She instantly owned it as her very own Pixie Dust Tree in the metro!

The following day, the little girl still can't get enough of the tree so we decided to bring her back to the place. She was so thrilled as she marveled at the man made attraction, running around and posing for the camera. We gave her the time of her life and when she run out of energy and got hungry, we knew it was time to settle in. Surveying the place, we had few options since it was a bit early. We haven't tried Uncle Cheffy so we decided to give it a go.

Uncle Cheffy Favorites Panizza for 395php
L-R: Alfalfa, Lettuce, Tomatoes

Ignorant as I was with what they have to offer, I thought I'll get a regular pizza here. What I got was their Panizza. Yes, it's a pizza but Dear Darla Pizza type. It's a house specialty so we went for it - Uncle Cheffy Favorites.

All prepped up to be wrapped!
All wrapped up and ready for the bite!

Three cheese Brick Oven Panizza with oven dried tomatoes, mushrooms, garlic, anchovy, basil and chili flakes. It's served with lettuce, alfalfa & tomatoes on the side. It was good! No meat, just healthy but delicious stuff! The crust was really thin but was soft enough to be rolled and the cheese was gooey! The way it was served was also interesting - laid flat in a thick wood block (I would say). I guess what I liked more was the way it's supposed to be eaten - all rolled up! Kinda have an inclination towards Samgyupsal style eating.

Spaghetti Alejandro for 350php

I learned that day that Uncle Cheffy was more on the BBQ dishes but I was not in the mood for some. As I scanned the menu for a Cherienne-friendly option, I got their Spaghetti Alejandro (Alejandro! Alejandro!) which was Spanish inspired. It had some smoked chorizo, pimientos and Edam cheese in a tomato based sauce. A bit sour, but it was good. Pasta was al dente and the tomato base had a fresh note to it shying away from the usual canned versions. And the Edam cheese - really tasty! I remember it was the same cheese I use now a days for my tuna pasta just because we have some left over from the holidays in the form of a ball (in short Quezo de Bola)!

Not sure if we missed out on their beverage menu but I swear I did not see any beverage list. Anyway, the server filled us up with bottomless water.

Picole Green Tea Popsicle for less than 100php
Enjoying the ice cream!

Since the little girl wanted ice cream for dessert, the Picole fridge was the answer. Hubby asked her to pick a color and to my heart's delight, she picked the green one  - Green Tea flavored! Wooohooo! It was creamy and cold and delicious! The Matcha flavor was evident but made subtle by the rich milk! Hubby liked it too and got another one for himself. My green tea influence is working mighty fine!

While waiting for the Panizza!

The space was a bit cramped but they have a second floor which I was not able to check. The servers were attentive and we didn't really wait that long for the food to be served.

Anyway, though I liked the experience here, it's  not really a place that would pop instantly in my mind. Guess nothing is especial about it. Or maybe I should have tried their BBQ options? Next time...
