It's been a couple of weeks now since Dean & Deluca opened it's first store in Manila. It's a Felicity fan girl dream come true for me. I used to watch that TV series every single week when I was in high school and I even have CDs of the first two seasons. It's been my dream to get myself to a Dean & Deluca store, grab a cup of coffee and a sandwich or maybe a cookie. Imagine my delight when I learned last year that they'll be opening up a store in Manila.

Dean and Deluca is located in Edades Tower, Rockwell. It's right across Power Plant Mall, along Amorsolo Drive. Don't worry, you won't miss it 'coz their space is huge with a big Dean & Deluca signage outside! Parking was difficult so we opted to park in the mall and walk which is good for food side trips. Once you get inside, you'll be greeted by their pastry display. Croissant, muffins, cookies, cheesecakes and some other pastries waiting for you to get them.

I wasn't really looking into eating heavy when we went there because we just had our fill that morning from a seminar that we attended. Coffee and pastry was the plan. We got there, place was packed and lunch hour has kicked in. It wasn't really hard to find a seat and the servers were nice and helpful. I marveled through their pastry display and decided to get a Salted Double Chocolate Cookie and an Almond Croissant.

The cookie was big and was really good! Chocolaty and moist, boy it was sinful. The edges were crisp but the center was soft and chewy.

The croissant had a lot of almond slivers on top, ample custard like filling and a buttery pastry that was flaky. It was finished off with a dusting of powdered sugar.

Then I got their Matcha Latte which was served with some latte art. It was good - thick and creamy with the right proportion of Matcha and milk.

Hubby got their Hazelnut Chocolate Latte which was fantastic too. It had a strong coffee kick plus velvety chocolate.

The restaurant was spacious, with a second floor to boot. Loved the neoclassical, minimalist decors and interiors. The upper section has wooden floor and used a play of bricks and minimal decors with tables adorned by potted greens.
Since we went there on their 3rd day of soft opening, service was slow and the staff lacked coordination. Though they were friendly and helpful, our drinks took time before they were served. My latte was not so warm anymore! When people started pouring in and orders came in, the staff got confused and didn't know who ordered who. I guess that's okay that time since they were just on soft opening. Let's give them sometime and I'm sure they'll get their groove on.
Definitely coming back to try their dishes!

They serve really good coffee though service is bad sibce they're still on soft opening. Try going there a month from now or during off peak hours :)
