A quick trip to Kapitolyo to pick-up my bunso's 10th month cake from Nutty Pear led hubby & I to the narrow streets of Kapitolyo looking for a quick grub. We veered away from the usual main street lined up with now popular restaurants and decided to check the side streets. Then I remembered Egg-It which I have been wanting to try.
The place was small, a true picture of a hole in the wall. A couple of tables and chairs, alfresco dining, simple interiors and a straight forward menu. They brought HK waffles to Manila and played with topping combinations.
For as low as 90Php, you'll get an 8 inch hexagonal shaped waffle that looks like a honeycomb. I tried one of their best sellers - Mango Caramel then added 55Php for a scoop of matcha ice cream.
Mango Caramel Egg-It + Matcha Ice Cream for 145Php |
Presentation needs improvement but overall taste was okay. The waffle was warm with crisp edges. I liked that it wasn't sweet but wished that it had more of the caramel flavor to it. Loved the sweetness from the fresh ripe mangoes that went well with the bittersweet matcha ice cream.
Aside from waffles, they also serve all day breakfast platters, rice meals and a list of drinks that included milkshakes. They don't have set meals since they'll let you customize based on their selection. Their isn't much options for their rice meal DIY though.
Hungarian Sausage x Rice x Drink for 125Php |
Cucumber Lemonade for 65Php each |
Hubby made his own rice meal: Hungarian Sausage (65Php) + Garlic Rice (30Php) + drink (30Php). Small serving but who's complaining? With the price range, you can definitely go for another order!
Overall, we enjoyed our quick "snack" that day. Our server was really helpful, explaining their offerings and giving suggestions. Definitely coming back when we get the chance.
3 out of 5 Stars for Egg-It!
