More Gelato from BONO

Written By clapalisoc on Tuesday, 25 August 2015 | 09:23

I've blogged about BONO when they first started their business with their first ever branch in SM Makati. It was such as good experience that every time I get the chance to go to SM Makati, I will stop by BONO. Because of their passion in making and selling only the freshest gelato with outstanding flavors, they immediately expanded to add 4 more branches.

We've been frequenting SM Makati lately because my daughter moved to a big school near the area. Several weeks ago, I noticed that BONO wasn't there anymore. Until last week, my heart was so delighted to see them back where it all started! I immediately took my daughter there for a gelato date.

Milo Dinosaur, Single Scoop for 130Php

She checked the menu and asked the staff if she can try Milo Dinosaur. She also tried the Cioccolato, Cereal & Milk and California Strawberry. Good girl! After all the free taste, she still went with Milo Dinosaur. It was so good. Thick and creamy and true to the Milo flavor. It's a little messy to eat this though since there were chocolate crumbs on top that tend to fall and scatter when you take a scoop.

Mango Ube Symphony, Single Scoop for 150Php

I had a hard time choosing what to get since my ultimate favorite, Creal & Milk, was available. Since I haven't tried their gelato entry for the Gelato World Tour contest, I got a single scoop of their Mango Ube Symphony. Strips of mango and streaks of ube or purple yam, not their best flavor I must say but the texture and creaminess were top notch. This was good and I loved the fruity burst!

Cereal & Milk Cookie Sandwich for 150Php

Recently, I also had the chance to try their new product - Cereal & Milk Cookie Sandwich - while we were in SM Aura. I've raved about the Creal & Milk gelato in my previous BONO blog so ordering this was the way to go. I was more curious on how they played with the cookie. Good thing it did not disappoint! A mix of oats and cereals, the cookie itself gave a whole new character to the Creal & Milk Gelato. Loved the texture and the crunch. The sweetness and a little saltiness of the cookie went so well with the gelato. Great job! Believe me when I say that one piece is not enough. But a word of caution, this little piece of heaven will cost you 150Php.

Rouge for 180Php

Back track to 2014, April to be exact, I also got to try one of their special flavors - Rouge. I must say that this is one of the best gelato flavors that I've had in my life. A buttery gelato base with just the right kick of sweetness, topped with a delicate sauce of butterscotch married with bourbon and then finished off with pecan chunks. Great combination of a little alcohol and loads of sweetness! It was good, insanely good!

BONO is one of those stores that I just can't resist when I see one. It's so enticing that I just have to drop by and grab a cup each and every time.

5 out of 5 Stars for BONO!
