Coffee Chronicles: Toby's Estate - Coffee from the Land Down Under

Written By clapalisoc on Tuesday, 15 September 2015 | 14:30

Toby's Estate is one of the top coffee shops today with it's roots from Australia. My first time with Toby (Estate of course) was in Century Mall. They were about to close and I was the last customer.

Flat White for 150Php

I asked for a hot cup of Flat White and a Bucky's and Cream to go. I watched as the barista concocted my drink. Really amazing how they come up with latte art. I'm convinced each time that I wanna be able to learn how to.

Flat White at Toby Estate

Since we were also in a hurry, I didn't have time to take an arty shot of my coffee. Nonetheless, the coffee was really good. Strong bold flavor, characteristic bitterness. I loved that the right amount of milk made a smooth finish. Great pair with my sweet Bucky!

Their Century Mall branch was so small that it's only good for take-outs. Great thing we were able to find their Salcedo branch which had a big space! I wanted to try their Mocha but also wanted to relax and chill as I take slow sips so this branch was just the perfect location for that.

Toby's Estate Manila

I've heard that Toby's Estate has the best Mocha in town so when we stopped by to grab some coffee it was the only thing on my mind. But wait! I also heard that their off the menu Gibraltar was great but I had to fight the urge because I might not fall asleep for days.

Mocha for 160Php

Their Mocha was indeed good! I must say that my favorite mocha from Magnum Opus would only come second! Full bodied coffee that was strong with sour end notes. I liked that it had the right proportion of milk and coffee plus the chocolate was strong but not too sweet at all. It was Mocha like no other!

Calamansi Pie for 190Php

Also tried their Calamansi Pie and we were blown away! As soon as it hit my buds, the burst of calamansi flavor got me! The filling was rich and creamy and smooth and had the right sweetness. The crust was thin enough not to over power the filling. Whipped cream balanced all the flavors. This was so good that we needed to get a second slice!

I also liked the ambiance of this branch. It was spacious and it's interior had a good play of textures - white tiles and wooden blocks. Simple but clean and classy. I also fell in love with their furnishing and light fixtures! Oh, just take a look at the pictures below :)

Will definitely go back to this particular branch. Will have to try their Pistachio Cheesecake and Gibraltar. Service was great in this branch too. Servers were friendly and attentive.

5 out of 5 Stars for Toby's Estate!
