Kapitolyo Food Tour: Epic Cafe

Written By clapalisoc on Tuesday, 28 February 2017 | 11:53

Went on a Kapitolyo food tour with my homies from foodsocietyph to partner with restaurants and come up with affordable packages for foodies to avail. Went to the area early prompting us to look for a cafe to get our caffeine fix. My friend Ruth suggested Epic Cafe and we went without hesitations.

foodfanaticph goes to Epic Cafe with foodsocietyph!

It was my first time at Epic Cafe and I instantly loved it! The theme was that of wooden counters, wooden tables and chairs. Part wood, part bricks and one part washed with plain white paint, the walls in this cozy cafe connected to give it a rustic finish.

There were blackboards framed with wood, that served as info and menu boards, gave a personalized feel. Unfinished ceiling and industrial lamps gave this place a modern touch. There were also these bulky bicycles hanging in select corners and judging by the signage near the main door, it looked like it's a biker's cafe too.

I was there solely for coffee but when we checked their cake display, everything looked so delicious! Lemon cake, rainbow cake, a naked strawberry cake, Sans Rival, etc. - I had to stop myself! My friend Reich, on the other hand, didn't want some cup of Joe so she decided to get a slice of Lemon cake.

The Lemon Cake was delicious! It has three thick layers of cake flavored with lemon, moist with just the right balance of sweet and citrusy sour. Nothing too overpowering here and no strong taste of lemon flavoring. In between the cake layers was this very thin lemon filling that had bits of lemon zest. This added texture and lemon burst with each bite! Frosted with a simple icing, this cake is best paired with a cup of coffee and the serving size was actually good for sharing.

My cup of Mocha was okay. The coffee wasn't that strong and I was hoping for a more bitter end note.

The chocolate used was a little sweet for my liking. I was hoping to get a deeper and darker chocolate profile and a bolder coffee but nah. Not too bad though.

What else can you find in Epic Cafe? These!

Aside from coffee, cakes and pastries, Epic Cafe likewise offers sandwiches and all day breakfast dishes like Tapa, Bacon & Eggs, Sausages, etc.

Service was good. Their wait staff were well trained and mindful of customer requests! It was overall a good experience, and if we weren't really following a schedule, I would have loved to stay longer.

4 out of 5 Stars for Epic Cafe!

  1. The beauty about this place is that they give you a somewhat blank canvas where you can create the wedding you envisioned, etc., which will be different from others. The staff at the event venues is incredible and professional.
