Hobing is one of the new players in the market offering Korean Dessert, more particularly, Bingsu. Been hearing about this place but never had the chance to try it because I'm one happy gal with my Seol Hwa. Until the day came when I needed to kill some time and I was in BGC Stopover. Instead of going to Starbucks, I went to Hobing.
Inside Hobing Korean Dessert Cafe in Bonifacio Stopover, BGC |
The place was HUGE and spacious! Loved that it has a side that's overlooking some parts of BGC. I checked their menu and they have almost the same Bing Su variant as Seol Hwa. I went for something very Korean instead of the usual fruity or chocolate flavors. I got a regular size of Injeolmi Bingsu and a slice of their Matcha Chiffon Cake.
Injeolmi Bingsu (Regular) for 175Php |
I didn't know what to expect with my Bingsu of choice. I haven't had Injeolmi and all I know was that it's rice cake. Being the Kapampangan that I am, rice cake is a big YES! Got my order and I was blown away by the amount of rice cake cubes in it. It was also covered with lots of roasted soy bean powder which I liked.
Closer shot of the toppings! Lots of Injeolmi cubes x roasted soy bean powder x cashew x almonds |
Each spoonful gave me a good portion of finely shaved ice x rice cake x soy bean powder x almonds and cashew. Loved the bite and the chewiness of the Injeolmi. The powder gave the whole thing it's characteristic goodness. Loved the subtle roasted notes.

It wasn't just a mountain of fine shaved ice. You'll get layers of ice filled with more injeolmi and soy bean powder in between. Whiw! Super loved my first Injeolmi Bingsu experience! One thing I noticed though with their ice - most would have milk ice which means that they have mixed some good amount of sweetened milk into the ice but Hobing's version didn't have much. If you like your shaved ice sweet, you might want to request for extra sweet milk, which I haven't tried doing yet.
Matcha Chiffon Cake Slice for 120Php |
The Matcha Chiffon slice was just okay. It was soft and had a very subtle matcha kick. Wish there was more matcha in it though. Found out that Le Miel Cafe supplies their cakes.

I was more than satisfied with my Hobing experience that's why when I had another chance to go to Bonifacio Stopover, I gave it another visit. Even though I still was full from my Yumchee meal, I just couldn’t resist a good Bingsu #gluttonystrikesagain This time, I got their Mango and Cheese Bingsu since they don't have a Matcha flavored one and I wanted to compare with Seol Hwa. I Mean, Seol Hwa's Mango and Cheese Bingsu is everything! You can check out my review it HERE.
Mango and Cheese Bingsu (Regular) for 195Php |
Mango and Cheese Bingsu - it’s cheaper than Seol Hwa but then again this one doesn’t have a scoop of ice cream. It had whipped cream anyway to compensate. I loved the fresh ripe mango cubes and the generous heaping of cheese cubes! There were more in between ice layers. The entire thing was also topped with some almond slices.
Closer look at my Mango and Cheese Bingsu |
As I took one spoonful after another, I came across the mango sauce that the bingsu was drizzled with. It came in too strong and artificial for me. It had this odd effect on me which I can’t explain – it made me feel a little dizzy. I tried to take it out but as the ice melted, the sauce mixed in with the entire thing! Urgh! I was about to rate this a perfect five but because of this mango sauce, I’m giving it a three.
I might request for the syrup to be taken out next time or shy away from this flavor altogether. I also wish that they serve an extra shot of milk coz this type of flavor needs more milk in it.
Some of the other food items being offered at Hobing Korean Dessert Cafe |
Aside from Bingsu, Hobing also offers some cakes and pastries, toasts and bread, tea (hot and iced), coffee and latte (hot and iced), smoothies and some food items.
