Coffee Chronicles : Commune Cafe + Bar

Written By clapalisoc on Tuesday 30 June 2015 | 12:58

June 30, 2015 marked the last day of Commune Cafe + Bar in their Salcedo location. Oh how I'll miss this cozy corner street cafe. They're set to build a bigger and better space for their audience in Poblacion. In the mean time, let me share one of my busy afternoons spent in this lovely Cafe.

So it was a weekday and I was on the run. Crazy, busy and hectic. That was how I would define my schedule that day. I tried to get some work done while tagging along hubby as he hopped site to site for countless meetings. I had virtual meetings to attend, reports to finish and tons of emails to answer. Since hubby's first stop was PBCOM Makati, I turned my looloo radar on and was so fortunate to spot Commune nearby. I was so happy to find it! I have been reading raves about their coffee.

The place was so busy when I got there. There was an ongoing event that occupied half of the space. Anyhow, the staff was kind enough to get me my own nook, even amidst reservations. It was my first time and I needed some recommendations. I needed a good cup of coffee and something to munch on as I fire away with my laptop.

I checked their menu, got a Latte, Bacon Tomato Mozza and iced tea as well.

Bacon Tomato Mozza for 250Php

5 small pieces of heaven. I was quite surprised when this was served. I was thinking huge serving. Small slices of Crostini, topped with pesto sauce, thick piece of bacon, tomato slice, mozzarella and more pesto sauce! It was good. I liked that the Crostini had a little crunch and that the cheese was gooey. Bacon and basil pesto sauce went well together and I kinda wish that there were more than 5 pieces per order.

House Blend iced tea for 105Php

The iced tea came in as a surprise too. It was served in a tall glass! The irony of my orders. When I wanted one to be huge, I got small pieces and when I wanted the other to be just right, I got a tall glass! Hah!

House blend iced tea with a strong tea taste. It was sweet, bitter and a little sour at the same time. Good stuff.

Cafe Latte for 105Php

The Latte was great. Strong and full bodied coffee with a sour and sweet notes. The aroma was so fragrant I had to stop and bathe myself with it for a while.

Commune also supports local entrepreneurs and have partnered with them in providing sweet treats. Cookie Bar supplies their Cookie Shot Glass, Carmen's Best for their ice cream and cupcakes from Sweet Patti Cakes.

Aside from the food and coffee, the staff were friendly and attentive. They made sure that I was comfortable and didn't bother even if I was there for hours. I also loved the cozy ambiance, the smell of coffee the whole time and the warm lighting. Such as nice space to get some work done, to chit chat with friends or to just simply relax while people watching.

I'm looking forward to the opening of the new space of Commune Cafe + Bar. Hoping that the experience brought about by this corner cafe will better, if not the same, in the new location.

5 out of 5 Stars for Commune Cafe + Bar!
