Banapple L O V E

Working in Eastwood City exposed me to a whole lot of restaurants either within the mini city or round about the surrounding area. Ever since hubby and I started dating, we’ve been trying to sample restaurants within the Libis and Katipunan area. We used to drop by Banapple for some to go sweet goodies, back in the days when they only have the main shy store along Katipunan. We never really had the chance to sample their menu back then. During one of our “explore the metro for a good deal Ford or Nissan SUV” we passed by Katipunan and decided to stop for dinner at Banapple Too – the new branch that’s just almost across the original store.

Banapple Too
The resto had a lovely glow from the outside, boasting of warm lighting. Once we hopped inside, we fell in love with their concept – simple but elegant. The wall was painted light red with chandeliers and matching lamps. They have curtains and comfortable chairs giving that homey feel. They also have framed drawings in every wall space available as well as wooden shelves filled with trinkets. Their tables were works of art with pieces  of marbles smartly put together to come up with different flower designs. Proud glass display of cheesecakes and cakes will also welcome you once you get to the counter. They also have enticing displays of freshly baked muffins, loaves, cookies and brownies. It's a sweet tooth haven indeed!

It took us sometime to marvel around the beauty and elegance of the place before resolving to take a look at their menu. Once you've decided what to get, you need to get up and line up the counter to place your order. They won't take your order from your table.

We decided to give the following a try --

Baked Creamy Cheesy Penne for 185php

Al dente penne pasta with meaty tomato sauce sauteed in hungarian sausage and married with a creamy white cheese sauce. Every spoonful was tasty and the cheese sauce with the gooey cheese topping was a knock out! Kids and kids at heart will surely love this pasta dish! The side bread that came with it was also a hit - pesto bread with melted cheese.

Pan-Fried Porkloin with Herb Mushroom Gravy for 180php

Tender and juicy porkloin steak seasoned with herbs and pan fried with olive oil. It's then smothered with a thick mushroom and herb gravy and served with glazed and buttered carrots. Hubby loved the gravy!

Breaded Fillet of Dory with Honey Thyme Mustard Sauce for 185php

A healthy alternative to meat, the dish was made up of cream dory fish fillet beautifully wrapped in an herb breading and fried to a light brown-crispy perfection. It's then drizzled with a warm honey thyme mustard sauce and served with glazed and buttered carrots.

Creamy Chicken Pie with Potato Salad for 135php

The best chicken pie in town (you gotta trust me on this!)! There are a couple of chicken pies out in the market but I have to submit that this is by far the best. The serving is actually good for two, if ordered with other meals, but can live up to satisfy one hungry foodie. Moist chicken flakes blended with a nice and tasty white sauce stuffed inside a buttery pie crust - it's a must try! You can order just the chicken pie but it will be double delight if you'll get it with the potato salad that's made up of chunky potato wedges and carrots in a slightly sweet mayo dressing.

Grandma's Corn Chowder for 80php

Soup for the little girl! A bowl full of taste bud surprises that's made up of a chowder of potatoes, corn and crumbled bacon. It's also topped with more bacon bits. Indeed creamy and tasty, the little girl liked the hearty soup.

Dark Chocolate Tiramisu Cheesecake Slice

Three layered cheesecake - dark chocolate, tiramisu and a nice cream layer finished off with milk cookies and thin ribbons of dark chocolate. One super sweet treat!

For their smoothies, we gave the following a shot --

Dark Chocolate Smoothie for 105php

For the chocolate lovers, this smoothie has all the dark chocolaty goodness in a gulp.

Banana Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie for 105php

This smoothie has EVERYTHING that I want in a smoothie! Chocolate love with peanut butter and banana to give that refreshing feeling. You would come back for more!

Banapple Smoothie for 105

Their signature smoothie - fresh bananas and apples.

After the sumptuous meal, we were so full that we almost did not have any room for desserts! Just a week after the Banapple Too visit, we decided to give their flagship store a try - Banapple One. Also located along Katipunan, right across the location of Banapple Too, this store was smaller and less grand.

Smaller Space at Banapple one
Love of my life
Aside from the good food and nice ambiance, their customer service was also notable especially in their flagship store. They were more than willing to attend to the needs of their customers. Banapple has become one of our favorite restaurants. They have a lot more to offer, other than their famous and well loved cheesecakes. It's a sure value for money place with a lovely menu. We've become regular customers!
