When in Tarlac City: Caffe La Tea - A Second Time

Written By clapalisoc on Tuesday 9 August 2016 | 14:28

The first time we tried Caffe La Tea in Tarlac City was not bad at all. We liked what we ordered and we walked away happy. Good food, affordable prices, good customer service. It was somewhat automatic to choose this place again for the birthday celebration of my brother last month.

Caffe La Tea Tarlac City
Our table full of food!

So we went, me and my entire family, including my siblings. We were quite a group and the place was packed when we got there on a weekday for dinner. We needed to wait a little and then we got our tables. We were seated separately to accommodate us faster. That was okay. We checked their menu and ordered right away.

Mango Berry Smoothie from Caffe La Tea

Lets start with the drinks. I only got to take pictures of my drink and my daughter's though. She loves mangoes so she agreed to get a Mango Berry Smoothie. The menu says that it has local mango puree, berries, milk and ice. Topped with whipped cream and some tapioca/jelly looking rounds and a drizzle of mango sauce. I didn't like it! It tasted very artificial like there was no fresh mango puree in it all.

Choco Peppermint Tea from Caffe La Tea
Choco Peppermint Tea for 89Php (L)

I got a Choco Peppermint Tea for myself. Dark chocolate milk tea plus peppermint, this was decent. I would love for it to have a richer chocolate taste and a stronger peppermint flavor though coz I think it's a little watered down.

Cheesy Beef Nachos from Caffe La Tea
Cheesy Beef Nachos for 169Php

For appetizer, we got two bowls of Cheesy Beef Nachos. Good potion for it's price but then again it was just okay. Nachos piled up with ground beef, salsa, some greens and then they covered the nachos mountain with a good load of cheese sauce and sour cream. Gets cloying after sometime though.

Cheeseburger from Caffe La Tea
Cheeseburger for 125Php

For the main event, my daughter got a Cheeseburger. Ordinary bun, thick burger patty, lettuce, tomato and a heck load of cheese sauce served with some potato chips on the side - it looked enticing! The chips were crunchy and salty and lovely but the burger was meh. The burger patty was dry, lacked in flavor. It was bland and not even the cheese made up for it. SKIP THIS NO MATTER WHAT.

Hungarian Sausage and Pesto Pasta from Caffe La Tea
Hungarian Sausage and Pesto Pasta for 159Php

My choice was their Hungarian Sausage and Pesto Pasta. This was okay. Needs a stronger pesto taste though it had a good garlic kick but needs a little more salt. There were five slices of Hungarian Sausage in it and I wished there was more.

Cupcakes from Caffe La Tea
Red Velvet for 49Php, Choc-La-Tea for 49Php & Blueberry Cheesecake for 59Php

We also tried their cupcakes - Red Velvet, Death by Choc-La-Tea and Blueberry Cheesecake. Loved the Blueberry Cheesecake - tart and sweet. The other two were just okay. Red Velvet was meh, didn't taste like red velvet at all, no chocolate kick. Death by Choc-La-Tea was supposed to be choco lava but it didn't deliver and was too sweet.

My mom and siblings got pasta dishes as well as rice bowls and said that they were just okay. Guess we didn't order the right dishes during this visit. Maybe a third time? We'll see.

2.5 out of 5 Stars for Caffe La Tea!
