Cello’s Doughnuts – Loving it Everyday

Written By clapalisoc on Saturday 7 April 2012 | 09:33

Months ago, I came across this restaurant compilation by our office that is used for food deliveries whenever there are clients or site visitors. I did a skim through and found myself very much interested with this page featuring a doughnut store -– Cello’s. I looked it up and found their official website. The creations looked so delicious (of course they should, for advertisement's sake), which got me drooling a good several minutes. I told hubby about the ordeal and he agreed to try it out when we get the chance. Since their store at Katipunan (which I personally preferred to visit) was very far from our Paranaque home it took some time before we were able to visit.

A dozen of Cello's
Cello's Doughnuts Overload!!!

It was a rainy afternoon and we were heading home, (a long drive) coming from North EDSA. We passed by Katipunan and decided to stop by Cello's –- finally. Climbing the stairs to the second floor of the building, Cello's queued up a welcome with the sweet smell of freshly-made goodies. Their display counter was not filled when we came in (since they already ran out of doughnuts) and were still finishing off with a new batch so we didn’t get to sample some of those in my list. But anyway, since it was our first time, everything was appealing. My mind was confused on which flavors to choose. We gave the following a shot.

Cello’s Original
Top Row: Oreo (32php), Chocolate (33php), Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter (29php)
2nd Row: Double Chocolate (29php), Strawberry (35php), Peanut Butter Oreo (38php)

Top Row: Cello's Original Oreo Choco Filled (35php) & Premium Doughnut - Dark Belgian Chocolate w/ Almonds (38php)
2nd Row: Premium Doughnut - Blueberry Cream Cheese (38php) & Cello's Original - Chocnut (29php)
The selection of doughnuts there was totally unique as compared to the other doughnut contenders (heavy weight class) in the market. Each piece was a hit. The base dough was what makes each doughnut special -– the sweet smell and melt in your mouth feeling once you take a bite is unforgettable. The dough is just so soft. And the glaze -– not too sweet and just right.

 Cello’s Exclusive
Bag of C’s with Toblerone Dip -  3 pcs for 60php , 3 pcs w/ dip for 100php

C-shaped honey glazed doughnuts that have been re-engineered to make them easier to dip. The dip was made up of melted Toblerone (one of the few flavors they have that you can choose for your dip), infused with cream to produce a thick and smooth textured dip that was rich in Toblerone flavor.

 Stuffed Doughnuts
Kitkat (60php) - topped with chocolate drizzle & chocolate chips, Twix (60php) - topped with caramel drizzle, Snickers (80php) - topped with chocolate powder
Their stuffed doughnuts got me curious so I decided to try them. I was actually expecting more of a thick, chocolaty filling that would welcome me once I take a bite -– more of the chocolate mixed with cream of some sort. I got really surprised (but liked it anyway) when I dived into the Snickers Stuffed Doughnut because a bar of Snickers greeted me (much like the advertisement of the Cornetto). That was the only time that I got into the realization that they were “literally stuffed” with chocolate bars. So now, you can imagine how the Twix and Kitkat Stuffed Doughnuts turned out –- S M A R T !

Gotta love that wall :)
Sure there is a lot of natural light!
Orange everywhere!

Letter Doughnuts! Talk about personalization.
Looking around, the store space was not humongous but was ample enough with around 6 to 8 tables with chairs, providing enough seating for customers. Natural light filled the space during the day, with one section enclosed solely by glass. Personally, I liked their bright orange theme matched with white. They also have this section that bore the store name and their signature design on a white wall as the canvass. For me, it's simplicity was so appealing, giving an overall cozy ambiance to the space.

Loving it everyday!

Surely, Cello's at Katipunan is a good choice if you want some out-of-the-usual doughnut experience, an awesome space to just sit down, have some chitchat, or even just a quiet alone time, with friends and loved ones. There are so many reasons (in flavors of doughnut creations) that will ask you to drop by every time.
