It was a nice after-work morning and hubby picked me up. He was about to go elsewhere for some business and was getting a tad bit more sweet than usual. He drove to BGC without any plan at all but to do some random driving until we decide on a spot for breakfast. 'Round about BGC's 31st., I saw a glimpse of Toast Box. I remembered seeing this in Rob Place - Manila (which I later learnt that it is also owned by Bread Talk) and got really curious to want to try it out. We parked right across the store and skedaddled our way with empty stomachs.
The store was all neat and clean wrapped with glasses, which allowed natural light to fill the space. The furnishings, counter top and almost all other available space were painted white which gave a sense of simplicity with a lot of class. They also have one whole side stretched with a couch type chair (a long one), giving utmost comfort while customers dine.

Tables and Chairs - all white!

Glass all around
They have quite several selections -- toasts, soups, rice meals, noddles, coffee and tea creations. From research, I found that the franchise was originally from Singapore and the dishes mostly Singaporean. We scanned their menu and decided to try the following.

Pork Floss Thick Toast - a closer look
Since this is "Toast Box" it's a must to try one of their toast offerings. Pork Floss on bread is just nice and I can't pass the chance without trying. It looked so good and as I ordered, I was hoping that it will also taste as I imagined. Generous serving of pork floss sitting on top of a thick bread toast (cut into small squares for easy consumption) and drizzled away with sweet milk, this piece is a sure hit!
I was at first doubtful of how the sweet condensed milk would blend into the salty floss (since I'm more used to the version introduced by Bread Talk) but once you sink your teeth into the toast, the contrast is actually more than appealing. When you order for the set meal, it includes two soft boiled eggs and you can upgrade your usual hot coffee or tea into an iced one. Since I'm in a milk tea trance, I opted for a cold milk tea. The milk tea has strong tea taste and it's obvious that the milk used is sweetened. It's a treat and is just as refreshing!
Hainanese Chicken Rice for 239php
A closer look at the chicken :D
Hubby was a little bit more hungry than me so he gave their Hainanese Chicken meal a shot. You can never go wrong with this pick since it's a very basic Asian dish but the sauces will add a lot to the overall experience. Here, a big cut of chicken, perfectly steamed, is served with sauces (there were more than one). The sauces are just perfect, creating an assortment of taste to the overall dish -- the somewhat sweet soy sauce based sauce, ginger based sauce and the red chili based sauce. Try combining two or all three with the chicken to discover your favorite taste.
It sure is a very good dining experience, great food with an inviting space, it will make you want to go back again and again to make your mornings even more beautiful. Hubby says we will, and he will bring some paper to read while we relax with a good set breakfast and a nice conversation. Cheers!
