Zong - A Chinese Kind of Day

Looking for authentic Chinese Restaurant that's a little tucked away from all the buzz? Try Zong!

The name sounded more Vietnamese to me than Chinese. It was the only restaurant that we haven't tried in that side of Fort Strip so we decided to have our lunch there. You see, Zong is quietly located near Cafe Puccini, Pasto and Early Bird Breakfast Club. We've been seeing it there ever since but never had the chance to try it.

Zong, Fort Strip
The restaurant looked small from the outside but once you get in, you'll be greeted by a huge space! They've got round tables, long tables and a second floor to boot! It was a really spacious restaurant, perfect for family gatherings and events. The place had interiors that were minimal but were made of taste.

We were not going for a gluttony race that day so our orders were few and simple.

Crispy Tausi Chicken for 298php
We tried their Crispy Tausi Chicken. Indeed, the chicken pieces were crispy! Covered in a thick and tasty Tausi sauce, it could have been knock out if it had more chicken meat pieces than skin. Anyhow, I liked the right amount of saltiness here. The green and red bell pepper and the onions gave the dish more character.

YangChow Fried Rice for 288php
Then what's a Chinese Cuisine treat without YangChow? Their version included generous heaping of all sorts of veggies and shrimp. A meal on its own! I liked this better than my all time favorite YangChow from Hapchan.

Wanton Noodle Soup for 228php
Lastly, we tried their Wanton Noodle Soup. It had soft noodles and big dumplings! Yay! I usually don't like wet dumplings but these were really good! The soup was watery good, as it's supposed to be, a little oily but was tasty. The soup also had bits and pieces of garlic. Made me think of broth boiled then simmered for a long time!

Overall, I liked this dining experience. Servers were attentive and the food, aside from being good, did not give me a headache or made me feel dizzy which means that they were true to their claim that they don't use MSG. I liked the place so much, thinking that it'll be a really good venue for whatever special occasion we have coming up.
