Coffee Chronicles: Single Origin - A Great Place for Coffee and MORE!

I've been hearing about the good coffee and food that Single Origin offers for months now and I finally had the chance to try it out on a week night with the husband. We went to Tim Ho Wan for dinner and we decided to get some coffee from Single Origin.

When we got there, the place was packed even if it was already late. The place was a little dim but had this homey ambiance. They used a lot of wood elements in their interiors coupled with bricks.

What is Single Origin?

Expertly made coffee at home?

Shelves filled with wine and beer on one side while another one filled with coffee gadgets on the other side of the wall. They also have this huge black board that serves as their menu board. Chill and relaxed - that's the main atmosphere here.

On our first visit, we simply got two cups of joe -- Mocha and Orange Infused Cappuccino.

Valrhona Mocha from Single Origin BGC
Valrhona Mocha for 180Php (8oz) hot | 195Php (16oz) cold

One mean cup of warm mocha right here! Strong coffee with sour notes, a little bitter and very little sweetness - this will certainly keep you awake for hours! I loved the deep flavor of the Valrhona chocolate, not something that's from a very sweet chocolate syrup or a mocha sauce.

Orange Infused Cappuccino from Single Origin BGC
Orange Infused Cappuccino for 185Php (8oz)

Espresso x milk that's been infused with orange and then dusted with cocoa. I was expecting some citrus kick here from the orange but there was none. There wasn't even a hint of orange from the aroma. On the other hand, the coffee was strong with sour notes.

On my second visit, I went for a pasta dish a another cup of joe.

Gibraltar from Single Origin BGC
Gibraltar for 150Php (5.5oz)

Gibraltar was my choice of coffee. Served in a rock glass, this one had espresso in it and textured milk. I loved this more than the other two coffee that I've tried on our first visit. This was strong, had the right ratio of milk, bitter, some fruity and sour end notes. It was perfect!

Crab Fat Pasta from Single Origin
Crab Fat Pasta for 350Php

I think I found my favorite seafood pasta. I can proudly recommend this pasta if you want something that's light and flavorful. There was generous amount of crab fat here so you'll get the full flavor plus it has scallops and shrimps. Finished off with shavings of Parmesan cheese, I made sure to clean up my bowl with the garlic bread.

Single Origin BGC
The perfect cup!

Single Origin has an extensive menu. They have pasta, waffles, French toasts, pancakes, burger, meat, rice meals and even baked rice. There's just so much to choose from! Service was on point as well. Servers were attentive and always on the look out for empty glasses. Great experience on both visits! Definitely going back for more.

5 out of 5 Stars for Single Origin!
