High Tea is starting to gain popularity in our local food scene. It's been around for years, mostly being served in hotels and tea salons but the foodie scene caught up with it just around a year ago.
Restaurants that also specializes in baked goods like pastries and cakes or those offering French Cuisine have started to offer High Tea as well, making it available and easily accessible to many.

French or Japanese? Their High Tea Sets are will not disappoint! |
Lavender Tea
Scones a l'orange
Tartine: Camembert and Apple
Emmenthal Puffs
Foie Gras and Raspberry L'opera
Salted Caramel and Dark Chocolate Cone
Butter Croissants
Genmaicha x Lavender Tea in cute teapots |
The Lavender Tea had a floral, pungent aroma and flavor. It also had this weak apple-like profile and it was a little earthy in flavor with an undertone of mint.
Scones! |
I'm a fan of all things sweet and those with strong flavors so the scone did not appeal to me. Some loved though especially when smothered with the orange marmalade and clotted cream that it was served with.
Camembert Cheese is LOVE |
I love the Camembert and Apple Tartine! The toasted bread and the slices of creamy and buttery cheese went well with the caramelized apples.

The Emmenthal Puffs were good as well! Loved the generous amount of cheese inside each puff!
Opera Cakes! Matcha x Foie Gras! |
The Foie Gras and Raspberry L'Opera cake slice needs more of the Foie Gras flavor. Overpowered by the chocolate and raspberry, the distinctive Foie Gras flavor was left as an after taste.
Salted Caramel and Dark Chocolate Cone |
I'm not a fan of dark chocolate and the small ice cream cone had a generous serving of this. Though the dark chocolate was smooth and thick, I scooped it all out to get to the salted caramel beneath that was nothing but heavenly! It was thick, sweet and had a good burnt sugar taste which I absolutely liked!
The Croissants were straight forward but they were so good! They weren't too flaky but were soft and each bite was bursting with a good butter flavor!
Japanese High Tea Set from Le Petit Souffle |
The Japanese High Tea Set, on the other hand, had the following:
Matcha and Jasmine Tea
Matcha and Black Sesame Scone
Tartine: Furikake Chasyu and Japanese Mayo
Matcha Cheesu Profiterole
Matcha Opera
Red Bean Cone
Butter Croissants
Genmaicha - Matcha x Jasmine Tea |
Genmaicha was the tea for this set. It's a different kind of Japanese green tea where it doesn't really have the usual strong Matcha kick. It had a subtle Matcha flavor with some flowery notes coming from Jasmine. It also had a strong roasted flavor.
Scones, Puffs, Tartines and croissants |
Same story here for the Matcha Scone. Though it was soft and the texture was smooth, it didn't have the Matcha flavor I was looking for. It was bland and bitter at the same time.
The Furikake Chasyu Tartine was my favorite from this set! It was so flavorful and savory! Loved that the meat portion had just the right fat trimmings! I can finish three of this in a giffy!
Matcha Cheesu Profiterole x Butter Croissants! |
The Matcha Cheesu Profiterole had a light Matcha taste but had a good portion of cheesy goodness inside.
A plate full of my favorite stuff - Camembert and Apple Tartine x Matcha Cheese Profiterole x Butter Croissant x Matcha Opera Cake x Foie Gras Opera Cake! |
Matcha Opera cake was pretty good too! Matcha mousse, matcha cake and raspberry jam in between the layers!
The Red Bean cone can get a little cloying since the red bean filling was too sweet for my liking.

Both sets include two sticks of cotton candy that you can use to sweeten your tea. I wasn't able to try this though but the other foodies said that it made the tea taste better.
French and Japanese High Tea Sets Menu |
Each set can be shared by two. Do not expect a meal like fullness hear coz High Tea is supposed to be an in between meal kind of thing.
