Everything Green Tea: Starbucks Double Chocolate Green Tea Frappuccino

Have you tried the new drinks being offered by Starbucks? They've got two for the season - Chocolate Black Tea with Earl Grey Jelly and Double Chocolate Green Tea.

Double Chocolate Green Tea Frappuccino - Grande at 185Php

Tried the Double Chocolate Green Tea and it was good! It's your usual Green Tea Frappe with a smooth and thick chocolate sauce at the bottom and on top of the cup (bad execution though with my drink lol). It also has crunchy Java Chips, finished off with whipped cream and a dusting of green tea powder. It's a good twist to my all time favorite Green Tea Frappe but I have to warn you that the chocolate sauce made the Matcha flavor subtle. I'm not complaining though because the chocolate sauce was good! More like McDo's hot fudge in consistency, I love that it didn't really mix completely with the frappe.

The thick chocolate sauce x the Java Chips bits all evident from this shot!

Each sip will give you a little of the chocolate sauce and then the java chips so you'll have to expect that the green tea flavor is a little altered.

Expensive by 20Php than the usual Frappe (Green Tea Frappe, tall is priced at 155Php) - get it's tall size at 175Php with increments of 10Php for the next sizes.

5 out of 5 Stars for the Double Chocolate Green Tea Frappe!

UPDATE:

Got to try the Chocolate Black Tea with Earl Grey Jelly a week after. I was going for a grande but the Barista urged me to upsize to venti for an additional 10Php. I went for the largest size since I will be sharing it with hubby and daughter.

Chocolate Black Tea with Earl Grey Jelly Frappe - Tall for 180Php, Grande for 190Php & Venti for 200Php

I was expecting a milk tea kind of taste from this drink and I got just that! It's good! It's just like a chocolate milk tea with a strong black tea note. I liked the Earl Grey Jellies but be warned that I generally like tea jellies.

This drink also had Java Chips in it and it's finished off with a dusting of Chocolate Black Tea Powder. Not sure I'll get this again because it was so expensive! 180Php for tall plus increments if 10Php for the next two sizes. Total damage for the Venti was 200Php.

Purple Yam Cheesecake - Slice for 140Php

I got a slice of the Purple Yam Cheesecake and it was just okay. Graham base with a purple yam cheesecake that has swirls of purple yam, some red mung beans and Macapuno strips, topped with a light whipped frosting that also has purple yam.

It wasn't bad but it was cloying. Maybe because it was too sweet? Could have been better if they've cut down on the sweetness and removed the macapuno and mung beans. One thing though, you can really taste the purple yam, which I'm a fan of, but then again this one didn't impress.

4 out of 5 Stars for the Chocolate Black Tea with Earl Grey Jelly Frappe AND 3 out of 5 Stars for the Purple Yam Cheesecake!

  1. If, you know the correlation between green tea and sleep, then you will certainly like sipping a cup of green tea before going to bed.
